Grade III, Class A (三级甲等)

China's highest hospital rating. China grades hospitals on a national scale by size, capability and quality, and "Grade III, Class A" (三级甲等, often shortened to San Jia) is the top tier — the large, advanced tertiary hospitals that lead the country in clinical care, teaching and research.

JCI (Joint Commission International)

A widely recognised international accreditation for hospital quality and patient safety. JCI is most common in private and international hospitals — and importantly, many of China's top public hospitals are not JCI-accredited but are still among the country's very best under the national 三级甲等 system. The two are different systems, not a ranking of one above the other.
