3 · Records gathering & translation

1–2 weeks before consult
What's hard: reports in your own language; don't know what to send; privacy worries.

4 · Pre-departure teleconsultation

2–6 weeks before travel
What's hard: will a doctor really look at my case? worth flying? language on the call.

Common pitfall: treating the online opinion as final — it's provisional; the in-person assessment can change the plan, so don't book non-refundable flights yet.

5 · Treatment plan & cost estimate

What's hard: understanding the plan; what it will really cost; hidden extras.

Common pitfall: reading the estimate as the final bill — costs can shift with what's found on arrival; ask what's included (implants, ICU, meds) and keep a buffer.

6 · Agreement & coordination fee

Common pitfall: accepting a vague "all-inclusive" promise — make sure the agreement separates our coordination fee from the hospital's treatment charges, in writing.

7 · Visa

4–8 weeks before travel
What's hard: which visa (M / medical)? invitation letter? documents? rejection risk.

Common pitfall: entering on a tourist (L) visa for treatment — apply for the correct medical (M) visa with the invitation letter, and apply early for embassy processing.

8 · Flights, hotel & local SIM

3–5 weeks before

9 · Payment — how it works & getting ready

before you travel

Common pitfall: assuming foreign cards work everywhere — sort UnionPay, WeChat Pay/Alipay or a cash deposit before you go; never wire treatment money to a middleman

10 · Arrival & getting settled

Common pitfall: relying on Google Maps or WhatsApp (often blocked) and scheduling a major appointment the morning after a long-haul flight.

11 · At the hospital — consults, treatment & payment

Travel day
What's hard: registration; navigating departments; consent forms in Chinese; being alone.

Deliver the care, treatment and all clinical decisions; bill you for treatment.

Common pitfall: signing Chinese consent forms you don't fully understand — have everything interpreted, and register early for the queues.

12 · Discharge, home & follow-up

After treatment
What's hard: reports in Chinese; what next; local doctor can't read them; no one to ask.

Collect all records, translate the discharge summary and reports into your language for your home doctor, stay reachable, coordinate any return visit or follow-up teleconsult. ✓ in fee

Common pitfall: flying home without the full file — get all imaging, pathology, the discharge summary and English translations before you leave; it's hard to obtain afterwards.

Yiren is a coordination service, not a hospital. We never handle treatment payment and never give medical advice.

We collect only what we need to help you, store it securely, and process the health information you share on the basis of your explicit consent (GDPR-aware). You can withdraw consent at any time, and a named contact is available for any concern.
