Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center (ZOC) of Sun Yat-sen University, in Guangzhou, is the largest public eye hospital in China and has ranked among the country's leading eye hospitals for years. With roots dating to 1835 and established in its modern form in 1983, ZOC covers the full range of ophthalmic subspecialties — cataract, glaucoma, cornea, retina, refractive surgery and pediatric ophthalmology — across two campuses. It handles over a million outpatient visits and tens of thousands of surgeries each year, with around 200 consultant ophthalmologists, and provides English-language support for international patients.
