About this hospital
Founded in 1921 by the Rockefeller Foundation, Peking Union Medical College Hospital (北京协和医院) is a large public teaching hospital affiliated with Peking Union Medical College and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. A Class A tertiary comprehensive hospital, it is designated by the National Health Commission as a national centre for the diagnosis and treatment of complex and severe disorders.
The hospital is consistently ranked among China's best, with nationally leading departments in rheumatology and immunology, endocrinology, dermatology, haematology and gynaecology. It established China's first allergy department and serves as a national referral centre for rare diseases. PUMCH operates across two Beijing campuses — the Dongdan Campus in Wangfujing (Dongcheng District) and the Xidan Campus (Xicheng District).
